He also regularly collaborates with a host of musicians. One of these, Ies Muller, comes from the Netherlands, and together they recorded the excellent Detached in 2019. They are now back with a second album entitled Middle of Life.

Ies Muller is considered one of the most talented Dutch flautists. As a child, he discovered traditional Irish and Breton music as well as the wooden transverse flute. Captivated by the sound of this instrument, he began to play it and learned dozens of tunes. He expanded his repertoire during numerous trips to Ireland, Scotland, Brittany and Spain.
Although Irish and Breton music are his main sources of inspiration, over the years he has been influenced by many other genres (classical, jazz, world music).  
Together, they draw us into a fascinating dialogue between accordion and flute, sometimes freely interpreting deeply rooted Irish music and a whole range of musical approaches that are unique to them.

This album was recorded a few months ago in the Netherlands, in the town of Vianen, a few kilometres from Utrecht. Most of their repertoire had previously been arranged in Matt Molloy's pub in Wesport. The theme of this album is linked to the passing of time, life experience and the discovery of new music over time.
Their music reflects their love and respect for Irish and Breton traditions, which are themselves influenced by North American and Swedish music. Most of the songs are Irish traditional tunes, of course, but there are also songs by Gilles Le Bigot (Ker Jacob), Michael Gorman (Strayaway Child) and Yann-Fañch Kemener (Pedenn). A real musical gem.
