FLORIANE BLANCKE - QUENTIN COOPER

For the record, Floriane is a French musician who has been living in Ireland since 2006. Classically trained, she then turned to jazz before discovering traditional Irish music, devoting a significant part of her musical activity to it. She plays the harp, but also the violin, piano and guitar. Quentin Cooper grew up in Peru before emigrating to Dublin and taking up music, mainly the electric guitar, which he plays in several rock bands. After moving to Ennis in County Clare, he discovered traditional music. As for Brian Fleming, he has been immersed in music since a young age, developing an interest in the bodhrán and other forms of percussion. Formed during a festival in France, the trio of musicians discovered a deep musical affinity and set sail together. Smokin' is the trio's first album.

Their music, deeply rooted in Irish tradition, is tinged with their personal roots: Peru, France and Ireland. It also incorporates their respective influences from a wide variety of musical genres such as blues, rock, Latin and jazz. 

The album features Irish traditional tunes such as The Dark Haired Lass, Huckleberry Hornpipe and the famous Bonaparte Crossing The Rhine, as well as several original compositions by Q. Cooper (The Coyote, The Gentian, Petit Thouars) and Floriane (The Lost Seahorse, Just 5 Hours). There is even a Peruvian tune – Que Chola Tan Rica. Recorded in their own studios in Clare, in order to capture the atmosphere and spontaneity of their concerts, their album is a subtle blend of pieces performed by talented musicians.
